JWADI makes emotionally raw, vocal-led alternative music with hip-hop instincts, reggae in its bloodstream, and lived-in storytelling at the center.

He calls it, COASTAL SOUL

Based in Santa Barbara, California, he writes, records, produces, and performs music that moves between acoustic intimacy, heavy pocket, alternative hip-hop, indie rock, and reggae without settling into any one lane. The voice stays at the center. The stories come from living.

JWADI first made his mark as a co-founder and original lead singer of The Movement. He wrote and fronted “One More Night,” from the band’s 2012 album that reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart. After leaving the band, he spent years away from music, navigating addiction, disconnection, and the long road back to himself.

He returned to making music in 2023 with a different sense of purpose: less interest in fitting a category, more interest in making something unmistakably his own.

Today, JWADI is building a world around the songs—through recording, live performance, filmmaking, and the people who find themselves somewhere inside the stories. His work can be funny, bruised, hopeful, strange, and deeply personal, sometimes within the same song.

His latest chapter includes “The Place You Started” and the forthcoming single “RAINCLOUDS,” out October 16, 2026.

The idea is simple: make honest work, perform it like it matters, and keep going.
